National Institute of Intellectual Property
On 28 February 2024 on the site of RSE "National Institute of Intellectual Property" (Qazpatent) held a round table on "Franchising - as a tool for the development of small and medium-sized businesses", organised by Qazpatent together with the franchise packaging company "FRANCHDAY.COM". The event was attended by representatives of JSC "Centre for Development of Trade Policy "QazTrade", JSC "Damu Fund", Central Asia Association of Franchise (CAAF), International Financial Centre "Astana" (IFCA), "Astana Development Center" LLP, as well as patent attorneys of the Republic of Kazakhstan and representatives of domestic business.
During the round table discussion were discussed issues related to legislation and tools for franchise development, registration of franchise agreement in the State Registers of Industrial Property Objects in Qazpatent, as well as the creation of a national register of Kazakhstani franchises and accreditation of international franchises. Investment preferences for Kazakhstani franchisors and franchisees were also considered.
Special attention was paid to the topic "Registration of franchising agreement in Kazakhstan", which was presented by Asemgul Kazieva - Head of the Department of State Registers, Publication and Registration of agreements on disposal of industrial property rights in Qazpatent.
Representatives of domestic companies such as KDL "OLYMP", "GLOBAL COFFEE", "ZEBRA COFFEE", "INVICTUS" shared their practical experience in implementing the franchising model.
At the end of the event, the moderator of the round table, Deputy Director of Qazpatent Aisha Zhumabekova, summarised the results and thanked the speakers and listeners for their active participation.
The participants of the roundtable expressed their gratitude to Qazpatent for the provided platform and expressed their wish for further development of dialogue in this direction.
