National Institute of Intellectual Property
Kazakhstan is a member of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) through the adoption by the Kazakhstan of the Declaration dated 16 February 1993 on membership in WIPO and participation in specific international agreements. At the same time, the list of WIPO member states indicates that Kazakhstan has been a member of WIPO since December 25, 1991 i.e. from the date of the USSR ceased to exist.
The Republic of Kazakhstan ratified the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT), the Madrid Agreement on the International Registration of Marks and the Protocol to the said agreement.
As part of its membership in the Eurasian Patent Organization, Kazakhstan is a participant of the Eurasian Patent Convention since November 5, 1995, the main purpose of which is to create a regional system for the legal protection of inventions and industrial designs on the basis of a single Eurasian patent operating on the territory of all states-members of the Convention.
On October 7, 2015 in Geneva (Switzerland), within the 55th series of meetings of the Assembly of the Member States of WIPO, a Memorandum of Cooperation and Understanding between the RSE "National Institute of Intellectual Property" and the National Institute of Industrial Property of the French Republic was signed.
On May 16, 2016 in Astana, a Memorandum between the RSE "National Institute of Intellectual Property" and the Korean Intellectual Property Office on mutual understanding and cooperation to improve and develop the automated information system of the RSE "NIIP" was signed.
On December 8, 2016, a Memorandum of Understanding on bilateral cooperation between the RSE "National Institute of Intellectual Property" and the United States Patent and Trademark Office was signed.
On September 10, 2017, a Memorandum of Cooperation between the RSE "National Institute of Intellectual Property", the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the State Intellectual Property Office of the People's Republic of China was signed.
On January 5, 2021, a Memorandum of Understanding between the RSE "National Institute of Intellectual Property" and the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office (TURKPATENT) was signed.
On April 6, 2021, a Memorandum of Understanding on bilaterial cooperation between the RSE "National Institute of Intellectual Property" and the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) was signed.
On July 21, 2021, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the RSE "National Institute of Intellectual Property" and the National Center for Intellectual Property of the Republic of Belarus.
On October 20, 2021, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the RSE "National Institute of Intellectual Property" and the State Agency for Intellectual Property and Innovation under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic.
