National Institute of Intellectual Property
Representatives of the National Institute of Intellectual Property (Qazpatent) take part in the two-day Kazakhstan Pharmaceutical Forum held in Almaty on February 7-8, 2024.
Deputy Director of Qazpatent Aydyn Artykova took part in the opening of the forum, dedicated to the implemented government programs, priorities, and opportunities to expand the availability of medicines to patients. In her speech, she noted that patenting of pharmaceutical developments is one of the main motivations in the pharmaceutical industry and highlighted that when patenting medicines, the balance of interests of both the manufacturer and the consumer should be taken into account. She also told about the functions within the competence of the Institute as a patent office, mechanisms of registration and patenting in the pharmaceutical field.
In her speech, Aydyn Artykova also noted the possibility of accelerated registration of medicines and peculiarities of registration of medicines following the regulations of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The forum is attended by 200+ participants from regulatory authorities, leading international and local pharmaceutical companies, manufacturers, distributors, and pharmacy chains, including such companies as Solgar, Bosnalek, Pfizer, Sandoz, Abbot, Joghson&Johnson, Novo Nordisk, SK-Pharmacia, AstraZeneca, STADA Eurasia, Novartis, Polpharma, Zentiva and others.
The 12 sessions of the program will feature more than 50 speakers on the most topical topics, round tables with regulators, and one-on-one meetings with top managers of pharmaceutical companies-manufacturers, distributors and pharmacy chains.
On February 8, it is planned to participate in the round table on intellectual property protection for medicines with the participation of Marina Sirotina, Deputy Director for Intellectual Property Rights of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Zaure Orynbekova, Director of the Almaty branch of Qazpatent , Altynai Batyrbekova, Head of the Department of Inventions, Utility Models and Selection Achievements.
