April 26 at the QAZPATENT venue as part of the celebration of the International Intellectual Property Day" held a roundtable discussion on "Women and intellectual property - a catalyst for innovation and creativity.
The event was organized to create a platform to discuss topical issues in science, technology, creativity and business in conjunction with intellectual property.
The roundtable participants discussed the role of women in creating and protecting intellectual property, as well as the obstacles they face in this area. Opinions were expressed on what steps could be taken to improve the position of women in innovation, and how to increase their participation in creating innovation.
In her welcoming remarks, Botagoz Zhakselekova, Vice-Minister of Justice, emphasized the importance of raising awareness of women in the field of intellectual property and supporting their participation.
Director of Qazpatent Yerbol Ospanov presented to the participants of the round table information concerning the activities of Qazpatent.
The speakers at the round table were the president of the National Academy of Sciences under the President of Kazakhstan, representatives of the Chamber of Patent Attorneys, the Union of Women Entrepreneurs, Astana Hub, Techno Women, Center for Creative Industries "Almaty Management University", Women Entrepreneurship Development Centers of the National Chamber of Commerce "Atameken", Science Foundation, QazTrade, QazInnovation, scientists and experts in the field of IP.
In their lively presentations, the speakers shared with participants about current programs to support women in innovation and entrepreneurship.
The event promoted better understanding between different stakeholders in the field of intellectual property.
Also at the round table was a working meeting of Kazakh patent attorneys with Qazpatent experts.
During the working meeting participants discussed the activities of the IP Appeal Board of the Ministry of Justice, the judicial practice in the field of IP disputes, the need to implement IP policies in organizations that create IP objects, and others.
Yerbol Ospanov noted the merits of patent attorneys for their active work in the field of protection of intellectual property rights.
Qazpatent expresses its gratitude to all participants of the round table for their contribution to the discussion of this important topic and looks forward to further cooperation with women innovators in the future.
