A regional meeting of Eurasian technoparks was held on March 14-15, 2023 in Astana at the office of Kazpatent under the auspices of the Eurasian Patent Organisation (EAPO) and the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO).
Representatives of leading technoparks in Eurasia shared their experiences in developing local policies to build a system for managing intellectual property rights. The number of EAPO member states is growing, but the common challenge for all is to build effective systems of commercialization and technology transfer.
In welcoming speech to the participants of the event, Botagoz Zhakselekova, Vice-Minister of Justice of the Republic of Kazakhstan, noted that enhancing the capacity of technology parks to effectively use the system of intellectual property by creating new innovative products and services was a very important initiative. This direction requires ensuring close cooperation between technoparks in the region, including all participants in the innovation process, in particular higher education institutions, scientific organizations, enterprises and investors.
The key goals of socio-economic development can only be achieved through the development and implementation of innovative technical solutions", Emil Mammadov, Vice President of the Eurasian Patent Office (EAPO), stressed at the opening of the Meeting. - Innovative development is inseparably connected with building an effective system of intellectual property. This, in turn, requires sound management of intangible assets.
WIPO Director for Developed and Transition Economies Habib Asan said: "WIPO is systematically working on intellectual property policy development - several states in the region have implemented thematic activities to create model policies for universities and research organizations. Now, together with the EAPO countries, we are studying the specifics of technology parks. This allows structuring the work with intangible assets, giving it a systemic character at the national and institutional levels".
Regional meeting held as part of a joint EAPO and WIPO project to train Eurasian technoparks in the management and commercialisation of intellectual property.
