Qazpatent Hosts International Conference on Intellectual Property with Participation of CNIPA, WIPO, and EAPO

On June 18, 2025, the National Institute of Intellectual Property (Qazpatent) in Astana hosted an international conference titled “Intellectual Property: Business Support and Improving the Quality of Patent Services.” The event brought together representatives of government agencies, international organizations, the business sector, and the professional community.

The conference was organized by the Committee on Intellectual Property Rights of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Qazpatent. Participants included experts from the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), the China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA), the Eurasian Patent Organization (EAPO), as well as leading Kazakhstani lawyers, entrepreneurs, and representatives of academia.

The moderators of the event were Tolesh Kaudyrov, Professor, Doctor of Law, Patent Attorney of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Eurasian Patent Attorney and Li Xiaojing, Director of the Second Division of International Exchange, Department of Patent Examination, China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA).

Welcoming remarks were delivered by Botagoz Zhaxelekova, Vice-Minister of Justice of the Republic of Kazakhstan; Dr. Shen Changyu, Commissioner of CNIPA; Habip Asan, Director of the Department for Transition and Developed Countries at WIPO; and Andrey Sekretov, Head of the Department of Integration Solutions of the IT Directorate of the Eurasian Patent Office (EAPO).

The conference program featured four thematic sessions focused on the following key topics:

- the use of intellectual property in business - from idea to commercialization;
- the development of digital services and simplification of procedures for entrepreneurs;
- regional approaches to managing intellectual property systems;
- strengthening the human capital of patent offices.

Throughout the day, speakers from China, Kazakhstan, and the Eurasian Patent Office shared best practices, business engagement strategies, and measures to enhance the quality of patent services. Particular attention was given to digitalization, international cooperation, and the role of IP in economic development.

The conference concluded with an exchange of proposals aimed at further strengthening partnerships, expanding international programs, and improving services for applicants.
