Qazpatent announces the opening of the virtual exhibition "Inventions and Innovative Ideas of Kazakhstan: Legacy of the XIX–XX Centuries," dedicated to the outstanding achievements of Kazakhstani inventors.

18 December, 2024

This unique project aims to promote Kazakhstan's historical heritage in the field of invention and intellectual property.

In February 2024, Qazpatent launched an ambitious project to create a virtual exhibition. During the preparation, extensive research was conducted: requests were sent to archives, correspondence with libraries and partner institutions was organized, and detailed searches in specialized databases were carried out. As a result, rare historical documents, including unique protection documents (patents and privileges), were restored and digitized, making them accessible to the public for the first time.

Today, the virtual platform provides access to 10 unique industrial patents, showcasing the creative and engineering potential of Kazakhstani inventors. These technical solutions not only surpassed their time but also significantly influenced the development of industry, infrastructure, and technology both in Kazakhstan and beyond. Among the featured inventions are:

  1. A furnace oil heating apparatus — invented by A. Vlasov (Aktobe, 1916), enabling efficient space heating.
  2. An electric diaphragm pump — developed by A. Kotov (Uralsk, 1910), integrating innovative methods for measuring and pumping liquids.
  3. A paint and varnish remover — created by A. Lilie (Uralsk, 1913), simplifying surface cleaning.
  4. An automatic terrain profile drawing instrument — invented by N. Plekhanov (Verny, 1917), used in cartography and engineering.
  5. A millet and grain peeling apparatus — invented by A. Winkler (Uralsk, 1900), automating grain processing.
  6. A ticket machine with automatic stamping and counting — designed by D. Abdulevsky (Pavlodar, 1913), revolutionizing ticket systems.
  7. A railroad switch lock — developed by B. Yurkin (Aktobe, 1912), enhancing railway safety.
  8. A machine for applying customs labels on boxes — created by G. Giszler (Semipalatinsk, 1900), automating packaging processes.
  9. An electromagnetic device for suspending rotating shafts — a solution by F. Meingard (Semipalatinsk, 1914) for reducing friction in mechanisms.
  10. An acoustic-effect electric diaphragm pump — invented by P. Matveyev (Ust-Kamenogorsk, 1914), for sound energy measurement and working with liquids.

Sabyt Akhmetov, Qazpatent Director: "By launching this virtual exhibition, we aim to showcase that Kazakhstan has always been a hub of inventive thought and technical innovation. Kazakhstani inventors created devices and solutions that not only addressed pressing challenges but also went beyond their time. These achievements are a source of pride and an inspiration for future discoveries."

Aydyn Artykova, Qazpatent Deputy Director: "This virtual exhibition is an important step in preserving and popularizing our nation's intellectual heritage. We believe that the achievements of Kazakhstani inventors will inspire the modern generation to new accomplishments and strengthen interest in science and technology."

The virtual exhibition is available at http://qazpatent-tisc.kz/december2024-en  and open to all visitors. Guests can explore digital copies of historical documents, detailed descriptions of inventions, and drawings that reveal the complexity and brilliance of past technical solutions.

Work on the project will continue. Qazpatent plans to expand the exhibition archives by adding new materials, including previously unexplored protection documents and technical descriptions of inventions. Additionally, multimedia materials and educational programs will be developed to draw more attention to Kazakhstan's historical and modern inventive potential. In the future, the exhibition will become a living archive, constantly updated and enriched, providing access to unique information for current and future generations.
