Experts in patent examination in the fields of chemistry, biology, and medicine completed an online training organized by WIPO.

On December 10, 2024, Qazpatent, in collaboration with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), organized a specialized online training for patent examination experts in the fields of chemistry, biology, and medicine (CBM).
The event, held on the ZOOM platform, focused on the topic "Examination of Inventions in the Fields of Pharmaceuticals, Biotechnology, and Chemistry."

The key speaker of the training was Mr. Artem Ezhov, Chief Expert of the Eurasian Patent Office (EAPO) and an expert in the field of chemistry. His lecture, delivered in Russian, enabled participants to deepen their knowledge and enhance their qualifications in complex and topical aspects of patent examination.

The goal of the event was to improve the professional skills of experts. The training covered the following topics in detail:

• Specifics of conducting patent examinations in pharmaceuticals, including the analysis of novelty and patentability of medicinal products;
• Aspects of patenting in chemistry, including search strategies.

WIPO and Qazpatent plan to continue their cooperation in organizing such educational events to enhance the level of the patent system in Kazakhstan.
