A training session was held for employees of the Samgau Foundation

On September 11, 2024, a one-day training session dedicated to intellectual property (IP) protection and commercialization of intellectual property objects took place in Astana. Employees of the Samgau Foundation participated in the event, gaining the opportunity to deepen their knowledge in the fields of patent law and innovation commercialization.

In their opening speeches, Aidyn Artykova, Deputy Director of Qazpatent, and Talgat Orashev, Chairman of the Samgau Foundation, emphasized the key role of intellectual property in the successful implementation of innovative projects. They also highlighted the importance of regular professional development for employees to ensure effective management and market introduction of intellectual property objects.

The training featured presentations from leading experts on the following key topics:

• Fundamentals of Intellectual Property Protection — Altynay Batyrbekova, Head of the Department of Inventions, Utility Models, and Selection Achievements, provided a detailed overview of the patent acquisition process, the rights and obligations of patent holders, and current issues in patent legislation.
• Strategies for Commercializing Intellectual Property Objects — Nazifa Baktybayeva, Head of the Patent Research and TISC Coordination Department, presented key commercialization models, including licensing, patent valuation, and strategies for deriving commercial benefits from intellectual property objects.
• Licensing and Transfer of Rights to Intellectual Property Objects — Azamat Zhakupov, Head of the Department for Registration of Contracts on Industrial Property Rights, covered the legal and economic aspects of licensing and transferring rights to intellectual property objects.

During the event, employees of the Samgau Foundation not only learned about the nuances of working with patent documentation but also became acquainted with modern methods of intellectual property protection. Participants gained practical skills in developing commercialization strategies for their projects, which will be useful in their everyday professional activities.

The training concluded with an active discussion, where participants shared specific examples and cases from their work, asked questions to the experts, and exchanged experiences. This event marked an important step in enhancing the qualifications of the Samgau Foundation employees and will undoubtedly contribute to strengthening the organization's innovative potential.

Particular attention was paid to patent landscapes, which allow analyzing current trends in innovation and patent activity, identifying key players in the market, and assessing technological development prospects. Participants gained valuable knowledge on how to use patent landscapes for strategic planning and decision-making in the field of intellectual property management.

As a continuation of this initiative, the next training on technology commercialization is scheduled for the end of October. Leading companies such as JSC NC «KazMunayGas», JSC NAC «Kazatomprom», JSC NC «Kazakhstan Temir Zholy», JSC «Samruk-Energy» JSC "KEGOC," JSC «Kazpost», JSC «Kazakhtelecom», JSC "NGC «Tau-Ken Samruk », LLP Samruk-Kazyna Ondeu» and JSC NC «QazaqGaz» are expected to participate. This event aims to foster cooperation and experience exchange between major national corporations and experts in the field of technology commercialization.
