On July 18, 2024, QAZPATENT took part in the Innovation Forum “Implementation and Development of Innovative Genomic and Omics Technologies”, organized by the National Center for Biotechnology with the assistance of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The Innovation Forum program covered the development of scientific and technological activities in Kazakhstan, the role of innovation in healthcare, instruments of state support for the commercialization of scientific and technical activities, as well as innovative developments in the field of genetics and biotechnology.
As part of the forum, a grand opening of a joint laboratory of the Astana Genetic Center and BSI Group took place at the NCB. The initiators of the opening of the AGC laboratory are the enterprise of the Republic of Kazakhstan Technopark Biogen and the Chinese company BGI Genomics.
The forum was attended by the Minister of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan Ms. Akmaral Alnazarova, Advisor to the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan on Science and Innovation Ms. Kunsulu Zakaria, as well as the representatives of the National Agency for Innovation Development “QazInnovations”, the National Holding “QazBioPharm”, the Science Fund, and other organizations of the innovation ecosystem.
Head of the Department of Inventions, Utility Models and Selection Achievements at QAZPATENT Ms.Altynay Batyrbekova told participants of the Innovation Forum about the importance of patent protection of biotechnological inventions for stimulating the national economic development. As part of her speech, she highlighted the legal aspects of patenting the results of genomic and experimental research, and also identified promising areas for the development of biotechnological innovations in the Republic of Kazakhstan.
