National Institute of Intellectual Property
On May 15-16, 2024, representatives of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the National Institute of Intellectual Property (NIIP) represented by Marina Sirotina, Deputy Director of the Department of Intellectual Property Rights of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and Guldana Kozhakhmetova, Deputy Head of the Department of Inventions, Utility Models and Breeding Achievements of NIIP, took part in the regional seminar “Common Expert Space: Current Issues of Patent Protection” held in Yerevan, Republic of Armenia. The seminar was organized by the Eurasian Patent Organization and the Intellectual Property Office of the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Armenia with the support of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).
The seminar was attended by representatives of WIPO, patent offices of the Republic of Armenia, Republic of Belarus, Kyrgyz Republic, Republic of Kazakhstan, Republic of Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Russian Federation, as well as representatives of the Intellectual Property Committee of the European Business Association, Eurasian patent attorneys and other interested persons.
Within the framework of the seminar Marina Sirotina made a report on regulation of patent protection of pharmaceutical inventions, and Guldana Kozhakhmetova made a report on peculiarities of patenting computer-implementable inventions, including those using artificial intelligence technology.
The seminar discussed topical issues of patenting in the field of pharmaceuticals, patent protection of inventions realized by computer or using artificial intelligence, protection of graphic interfaces and examination of designs with elements of protected trademarks and copyright objects.
