Qazpatent reveals the importance of legal protection for works of visual art in a course at UN Women, Cultural and Creative Industries. Principles of Equal Participation

Astana, June 14, 2023 – Qazpatent, the National Institute of Intellectual Property, presented information about the legal protection of works of visual art as part of "Cultural and Creative Industries. Principles of Equal Participation" seminar series.

The seminars were held from June 7 to 21 for Kazakhstan's active and talented community of artists, organized by UN Women and the Union of Artists of Kazakhstan with the support of the Ministry of Information and Social Development of Kazakhstan and the Women's Creative Initiative League.

As part of the presentation, representatives of Qazpatent spoke in detail about the peculiarities of legal protection of copyright objects with a focus on works of fine art. Issues of legal regulation of the transfer of exclusive rights to works were covered, and mechanisms to protect infringed rights of authors and other right holders were presented. Participants gained valuable knowledge and guidance on how to effectively use legal mechanisms to protect their creative works.

The course aims to help artists transform their knowledge and skills into a source of income, as well as learn how to discover their own uniqueness and function successfully within the development of a 'Creative Economy'.
