TREATIES ADMINISTERED BY THE WIPO
Convention Establishing the World Intellectual Property Organization (Stockholm, 1967). Kazakhstan became a member of WIPO by submitting to WIPO the Declaration of the Republic of Kazakhstan on International Treaties in the Field of Industrial Property Protection (February 5, 1993). This Declaration enabled Kazakhstan to accede to the Convention Establishing the World Intellectual Property Organization. Meanwhile, the list of WIPO member countries indicates that Kazakhstan has been a member of WIPO since December 25, 1991, i.e., since the dissolution of the USSR.
Paris Convention for the Protection of Industrial Property (Paris, 1883). Kazakhstan acceded to the convention by submitting to WIPO the Declaration of the Republic of Kazakhstan on International Treaties in the Field of Industrial Property Protection (February 5, 1993).
Madrid Agreement Concerning the International Registration of Marks (Madrid, 1891). Kazakhstan acceded to the agreement by submitting to WIPO the Declaration of the Republic of Kazakhstan on International Treaties in the Field of Industrial Property Protection (February 5, 1993).
Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) (Washington, 1970). Kazakhstan acceded to the treaty by submitting to WIPO the Declaration of the Republic of Kazakhstan on International Treaties in the Field of Industrial Property Protection (February 5, 1993).
Berne Convention for the Protection of Literary and Artistic Works (Berne, 1886). Kazakhstan acceded to the convention by the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated November 10, 1998, No. 297-1, which came into force for the Republic of Kazakhstan on April 12, 1999.
Convention for the Protection of Producers of Phonograms Against Unauthorized Duplication of Their Phonograms (Geneva, 1971). Kazakhstan acceded to the convention by the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated June 7, 2000, No. 54-II, which came into force for the Republic of Kazakhstan on August 3, 2001.
Strasbourg Agreement Concerning the International Patent Classification (Strasbourg, 1971). Kazakhstan acceded to the agreement by the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated November 16, 2001, No. 257-II, which came into force for the Republic of Kazakhstan on April 24, 2002.
Nice Agreement Concerning the International Classification of Goods and Services for the Purposes of the Registration of Marks (Nice, 1957). Kazakhstan acceded to the agreement by the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated November 16, 2001, No. 258-II, which came into force for the Republic of Kazakhstan on April 24, 2002.
Budapest Treaty on the International Recognition of the Deposit of Microorganisms for the Purposes of Patent Procedure (Budapest, 1977). Kazakhstan acceded to the treaty by the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated November 16, 2001, No. 259-II, which came into force for the Republic of Kazakhstan on April 24, 2002.
Locarno Agreement Establishing an International Classification for Industrial Designs (Locarno, 1968). Kazakhstan acceded to the agreement by the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated January 31, 2002, No. 291-II, which came into force for the Republic of Kazakhstan on November 7, 2002.
Trademark Law Treaty (TLT) (Geneva, 1994). Kazakhstan acceded to the treaty by the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated February 4, 2002, No. 292-II, which came into force for the Republic of Kazakhstan on November 7, 2002.
WIPO Performances and Phonograms Treaty (WPPT) (Geneva, 1996). Kazakhstan acceded to the treaty by the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated December 30, 2004, No. 26-III, which came into force for the Republic of Kazakhstan on January 12, 2005
WIPO Copyright Treaty (WCT) (Geneva, 1996). Kazakhstan acceded to the treaty by the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated December 30, 2004, No. 25-III, which came into force for the Republic of Kazakhstan on January 12, 2005.
Protocol Relating to the Madrid Agreement Concerning the International Registration of Marks (Madrid, 1989). Kazakhstan acceded to the protocol by the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated December 30, 2004, No. 24-III, which came into force for the Republic of Kazakhstan on March 26, 2007.
Nairobi Treaty on the Protection of the Olympic Symbol (Nairobi, 1981). Kazakhstan acceded to the treaty by the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated June 4, 2008, No. 36-IV, which came into force for the Republic of Kazakhstan on December 28, 2008.
Patent Law Treaty (PLT) (Geneva, 2000). Kazakhstan acceded to the treaty by the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated June 24, 2008, No. 47-IV, which came into force for the Republic of Kazakhstan on August 19, 2011.
Rome Convention for the Protection of Performers, Producers of Phonograms and Broadcasting Organizations (Rome, 1961). Kazakhstan acceded to the convention by the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated July 14, 2011, No. 474-IV, which came into force for the Republic of Kazakhstan on July 14, 2012.
Singapore Treaty on the Law of Trademarks (Singapore, 2006). Kazakhstan acceded to the treaty by the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated April 9, 2012, No. 20-V, which came into force for the Republic of Kazakhstan on September 8, 2012.
OTHER MULTILATERAL TREATIES
Universal Copyright Convention (Geneva, 1952). Kazakhstan acceded to the convention by the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated November 16, 2001, No. 256-II, which came into force for the Republic of Kazakhstan on June 15, 2002.
Agreement on Trade-Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights (TRIPS) (Marrakesh, 1994). Kazakhstan acceded to the agreement by ratifying the Treaty on the Establishment of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), which came into force for Kazakhstan on January 5, 2015.
