A workshop on "Legal basis and registration of copyrights" was held at the S.D. Asfendiyarov Kazakh National Medical University on 24 March, 2017 in Almaty.
The welcoming speech was presented by chief of Training Center of the "NIIP" branch in Almaty Zh. Serikbayeva, who also informed the participants of the workshop on the activities of the branch of NIIP in Almaty.
The workshop was attended by 20 people - employees of the University.
According to the approved program, the lecture on "Legal basis and registration of copyright" was presented by chief specialist of the Training Center B. Nazarov.
Following issues were considered during the workshop:
- definition of copyright with examples;
- objects protected by copyright;
- the procedure for filing an application for the State registration of rights to works protected by copyright;
- duration of copyright;
- how the property rights of the author can be transferred?
The workshop participants were asked about questions on the procedure for registration, filing and consideration of applications for the registration of copyright; payment for the application; what are the derivative works?, what are the property and personal rights of the author? etc.
At the end of the workshop, the participants thanked the organizers for the provided information on copyright issues, and also expressed their wish to hold such a workshop in April current year on "The invention and useful models as objects of industrial property" theme.
