November 16, 2018 the sub-regional Seminar “Teaching Intellectual Property” organized by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) in cooperation with the Federal Service for Intellectual Property (Rospatent) and the Russian State Academy of Intellectual Property (RSAIP) held a seminar based on the Russian State Academy of Intellectual Property (RSAIP).
Teachers of technical, medical, humanitarian and creative universities, patent officers, heads and specialists of IP departments, inventors, graduate students and undergraduates attended the seminar from various regions of Russia: Moscow, Tula, Tver, Penza, Tambov, St. Petersburg, Kazan, Syktyvkar, Perm, Tyumen, etc.
The seminar began with the opening ceremony and welcoming speeches of the representatives of the Federal Service for Intellectual Property P.G. Spitsin, World Intellectual Property Organization M. Shvantner, French Embassies N. Emery, Department of State Science, Science, Technology, and Innovation Policy A.A. Anikeeva, All-Russian Society of Inventors and Rationalizers A.A. Ischenko, Russian State Academy of Intellectual Property I.A. Bliznets.
In the framework of the main part of the event, specialists from Russia, Vietnam, Serbia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova and Uzbekistan shared their methodologies and features of the national system of training specialists in the field of intellectual property and discussed the features of teaching intellectual property (IP) in the modern era.
During the workshop, participants put forward proposals for improving the teaching methods of intellectual property, including an increase in the number of hours devoted to studying IP in existing programs; the creation of flexible programs that allow to specialize in various types of intellectual property, as well as to regulate the level of load on the student.
During the breaks, the participants and speakers had the opportunity to discuss professional issues in an informal setting and acquire useful contacts.
The participants emphasized the importance of training teachers in the field of IP and made a proposal to organize a series of master classes on teaching methods in intellectual property related disciplines at RSAIP. At the end of the seminar, personal certificates were issued.
Participants thanked for the warm welcome and praised the prospects for further cooperation with the RSAIP.
