RSE «NIIР» held a scientific and practical seminar

13 March 2019 the Centre of court expertise of Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Kazakhstan on the site of the National Institute of Intellectual Property held a scientific-practical seminar on the theme: «The technique of calculation when deciding on the subject of the similarity of trademarks confusingly».

In the center of judicial examinations all types of researches in which there is a need at investigation and judicial consideration of various categories of criminal, civil and administrative cases are carried out. Today, the Center conducts 30 types of forensic examinations. Production of judicial examinations is directly carried out in the territorial divisions which are Institutes of judicial examinations of the Center. One of the types of expertise is forensic commodity expertise. The issues of establishing signs of identity or similarity of trademarks in the Center are solved within the framework of commodity research with the assistance of experts-philologists.

At the seminar, Kaliya Batayeva, First deputy director of RSE «NIIP» and Gulnar Ertayeva, Deputy director of RSOE «CCE» made a welcoming speech.

Presentations were made by Tolkyn Shagdarova, Leading researcher of the research Institute of forensic examinations «CCE» of the MJ RK with the theme: «Analysis of the practice of production of forensic examinations of trademarks» and by Tatyana Davydova, Chief expert of the ICE in the East Kazakhstan region with the theme: «The Algorithm of calculation and evaluation of the results in solving the issue for the similarity of trademarks to the point of confusion in the production of forensic examinations».

Assemgul Kazieva, Head of the department of trademarks, appellations of origin and industrial designs as well asAssel Shakuanova, Head of division on trademarks, appellations of origin and industrial designs and other experts of the department also attended the seminar.

During the seminar, the questions asked by the representatives of the RSE «NIIP» regarding the definition of similarity to the degree of confusion of trademarks were discussed.

Following the discussion, the meeting reached an agreement on further cooperation.

At the end of the seminar, the participants were awarded certificates.
