As part of the Regional Meeting for the Development of Technology and Innovation Support Center (TISC) Networks in Central Asian countries, a delegation including representatives of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), as well as international and national participants, visited the NURIS Innovation Cluster of Nazarbayev University.
The program of the visit included:
1. Meeting with the management of NURIS:
The delegation was met at the main entrance of Nazarbayev University from Turan Avenue. The NURIS management made a presentation on the activities of the technopark and innovation cluster, highlighting its main achievements, current projects and prospects for cooperation. Particular attention was paid to innovations in the field of artificial intelligence, bioenergy, environmental technologies and digital manufacturing.
2. Presentation of the TISC at Nazarbayev University:
The management of the TISC, operating at Nazarbayev University, presented a report on the center's key initiatives. Its main areas of activity were presented in detail, including providing access to advanced patent and scientific and technical resources, assistance in the development and commercialization of innovations, as well as educational programs for researchers and entrepreneurs.
3. Visit to FabLab and DC Lab laboratories:
The delegation got acquainted with the work of the FabLab digital prototyping laboratories and the DC Lab digital and creative technologies. These laboratories provide a platform for the implementation of scientific ideas, prototype development and testing of new technologies, which makes them an important link in supporting startups and scientific and technical projects.
4. Introduction to the S4 laboratory block:
In the laboratory block, the delegation met with residents working in such promising areas as robotics, artificial intelligence, battery technologies and bioenergy. Project presentations demonstrated a high degree of innovation and potential for implementation in the industry and economy of Kazakhstan.
5. Visit to the Technopark and residents:
The participants of the regional meeting concluded their visit with an introduction to the work of the Technopark and its residents, including IHT Central Asia and the Scientific and Production Center for Environmental and Industrial Biotechnology. The delegation was also given the opportunity to inspect the pilot plant, where production capabilities and innovative solutions adapted to the needs of the domestic and international markets are demonstrated.
Additional results of the visit:
During the visit, opportunities for expanding cooperation between WIPO, TISC Centers and innovation structures of Nazarbayev University were emphasized. Participants noted the high level of integration of research and entrepreneurship activities in the NURIS Technopark, which is an example of an effective ecosystem for supporting innovation.
The delegation expressed gratitude to the management of Nazarbayev University, NURIS Technopark and TISC for their hospitality, as well as for the opportunity to get acquainted with the best practices in the field of development of science, technology and innovation in Kazakhstan.
