Each year in Kazakhstan patented many new inventions. Patent Office of the Republic of Kazakhstan on the date issued to applicants for more than twenty-nine thousand titles of protection for inventions in the lifetime of ministry.
Protected by patents of invention and innovation patents are an integral part of the market infrastructure and are of great importance in addressing the strategic objectives of the state industrial policy.
In this regard, there was a long tradition of the annual Republican contest of achievements in the field of inventive activities "Shapagat", organized by the Committee on Intellectual Property of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Republican State Enterprise "National Institute of Intellectual Property."
The first contest in the field of invention was established in 2004 to stimulate inventive activity, as well as for the implementation of the Strategy of Industrial and Innovation Development of Kazakhstan for 2003-2015.
This year the awards ceremony of the 10th anniversary Republican contest of achievements in the field of inventive activities "Shapagat" is scheduled to take place in the framework of VI-th Astana Economic Forum.
The contest in the framework of such a large-scale event once again highlight the important role and the high significance of the results of intellectual activity in the development and improvement of the economy.
For the past years has been the traditional institution of WIPO awards for Kazakhstan inventors who handed in the competition "Shapagat" inventors whose inventions deserve special respect and were highly noted as the inventors and the public of our country.
The competition is held in the following categories: "Invention of the Year", "Most Active Inventor", "Woman - Inventor," "The Youngest Inventor," "Young Talent".
Of particular significance attaches to contest the fact that the World Intellectual Property Organization has been the last 3 years to establish a specially Kazakhstan inventors following awards - gold medals and certificates: "The award of the Best Inventor of the WIPO", "WIPO award for the best young inventor," WIPO award best woman- inventor "," WIPO award young talent. "
Eurasian Patent Organization awarded the Gold Medal named afterV. Blinnikov "Contribution to the inventor and the patent case."
The participants of the event are national patent holders with existing innovative patents and patents that have been issued and published in the previous year's competition.
The inventions were selected for individual industries that meet the criteria of originality, competitiveness, technical excellence and profitability in the application.
In addition, to encourage inventors and promote inventive activity in the Republic of Kazakhstan, held a contest "Distinguished Inventor of the Republic of Kazakhstan." The graduation ceremony and commemorative ribbons on conferring the honorary title "Honored Inventor of the Republic of Kazakhstan" will also be held on May 23, 2013.
