National Institute of Intellectual Property
Annually in the Republic of Kazakhstan Committee on Intellectual Property of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Republican State Enterprise “National Institute of Intellectual Property” by the assistance of the Ministry of Education and Science and the Ministry of Industry and New technologies of the Republic of Kazakhstan in accordance with the Rules of Competition, approved by the joint order of the Minister of Justice of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Minister of Industry and New technologies of the Republic of Kazakhstan held Republican Contest of Achievements in the Field of Inventive Activity “SHAPAGAT”.
Competition “Shapagat” was established in 2004 in order to implement the industrial- innovation strategy of the Republic of Kazakhstan from 2003 to 2015, as well as to stimulate inventive activity of citizens. The eleventh competition of achievements in the field of invention will held within the framework of the 7th Astana Economic Forum.
The main purposes of this contest are to increase the role of intellectual property in the Republic of Kazakhstan, to popularize inventive activity, to contribute to the development of innovation and inventions, to attract investments to invention and innovation sphere, to introduce perspective developments in the manufacturing sector.
To participate in the 11th Republican contest of achievements in the field of inventions “SHAPAGAT” was received 267 applications, in the following categories:
“Invention of the year” – 94 applications.
“Woman – Inventor” – 37 applications
“The most active inventor” – 22 applications
“The youngest inventor” – 14 applications
“A Young talent” – 100 applications
This year besides of these nominations will be awarded nominations and awards from the World Intellectual Property Organization, the World Association of Women inventors and entrepreneurs, Eurasian Patent Organization.
The competition will be attended by national patent holders with existing innovative patents and patents for inventions, issued and published in the previous years of the contest.
The winners will be determined by the Commission of Contest which consists of scientists, public figures, representatives of state authorities and public organizations.
Meeting of Commission of Contest will be held on 22 April 2014 at 15.00 p.m. and 23 April at 10.00 a.m. by the following address: House of Ministries, Orynbor street 8, Entrance №3, office 803 (9th floor).
During the meeting inventions that meet the criteria of originality, competitiveness, high technical level of profitability in the application and social significance will be selected and determined in the following categories:
"Invention of the Year" – three awards
“Woman – Inventor” – one award
“The Youngest Inventor” – one award
“The Young Talent” - one award
“The Most Active Inventor” - one award
Winners of contest “SHAPAGAT” will receive a statuette and special diplomas. In addition, they will be provided by the special diplomas as “For the contribution to the innovative development of Kazakhstan”.
Moreover, since 2010 the World Intellectual Property Organization established specially WIPO awards and medals for Kazakh inventors As “The best inventor”, “The best woman-inventor”, “The youngest inventor” and “The best inventor - schoolchild”.
Also by tradition will be determined the winner for awarding the Gold Medal named after V. Blinnikov for “Contribution to the inventive and the patent case”.
Awarding of the winners of the Competition will be held in a festive atmosphere. For the ceremony are invited Parliament deputies, scientists, patent attorneys of Kazakhstan, representatives of state organs, public organizations, development institutions, innovation centers, higher education institutions, honored guests from foreign patent offices.
By the traditions of the last few years the awards ceremony will be held in Astana at the Palace of Art "Shabyt", Kazakh National University of Arts. Awarding Ceremony will be lasted with a concert of Kazakh pop stars.
