The Asian High-Level Seminar on IP strategy and policy was held on November 8-11, 2016 in Beijing, the capital of P. R. China. The seminar was organized by the State Intellectual Property Office. Representatives of the patent offices from 19 countries of the Asian region and the World Intellectual Property Organization participated in the seminar. The National Institute of Intellectual Property was represented by the Zaure Orynbekova, Director of the Almaty city branch and Indira Okas, chief specialist of the Law, International Cooperation and Media Relations Service.
The lectures were delivered on the implementation of the national IP strategy in China, amendments to Patent law, protection and enforcement of intellectual property, the development of IP services, the promotion of intellectual property culture and international cooperation to ensure sustainable and balanced development of intellectual property.
The keynote speeches were delivered by Deputy Commissioner of SIPO, Directors of SIPO Departments and their Deputies. Also a visit to a technological company, an IP law firm, the IP court was organized for the participants. Representatives from each participating country made presentations on national IP systems, current IP strategies and policies.
