ANNOUNCEMENT. Sub-regional seminars will be held with the assistance of the World Intellectual Property Organization from December 8 to 9, 2016 in Astana

The Sub-regional seminar on the Hague System for the International Registration of Industrial Designs and the Sub-regional seminar on Geographical Indications and Other Means of Protection of Distinctive Signs based on Origin will be held from December 8 to 9, 2016 in Astana.
The seminars will be organized by the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the National Institute of Intellectual Property with the assistance of the World Intellectual Property Organization (hereinafter - WIPO).
The aim of the seminars is to discuss practical issues on the protection of geographical indications, its differences from other intellectual property objects, legal and economic substantiations for their protection, the procedure and the benefits of international registration of industrial designs, as well as sharing of best practices with representatives of WIPO, foreign intellectual property offices, foreign companies and other stakeholders in these areas.
Representatives of WIPO, USA, Italy, France and a number of the CIS countries will act as foreign speakers and participants.
Working languages of the seminars are English and Russian with simultaneous interpretation. Participation is free.
Seminars will take place on December 8-9, 2016 in the building of the "Duman" hotel complex at the following address: Astana, Korgalzhyn Highway 2A.
