The training center of the branch of the "National Institute of Intellectual Property" RSE of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Kazakhstan (NIIP branch) conducted a training seminar on the topic: "Trademarks, appellations of origin and industrial designs as objects of industrial property. Legal basis and registration of copyright. Electronic filing of applications and use of industrial property" on March 10, 2017 in Almaty.
The welcoming speech was made by Z.Orynbekova, the director of NIIP branch in Almaty, she also informed the seminar participants about forthcoming amendments and additions to some legislative acts of the Republic of Kazakhstan on the issues of improving legislation in the field of intellectual property.
The seminar was attended by representatives of Kazakh Academy of Transport and Communications named after M. Tynyshpaev, Kazakh National Medical University named after S.D. Asfendiyarov, West Kazakhstan Agrarian Technical University named after Zhangir Khan, Kazakh State Women's Pedagogical University, Kazakhstan-British Technical University, JSC "Chimpharm" (Shymkent), LLP "Kazakh Scientific Research Veterinary Institute", LLP "Kazakh Research Institute of Livestock and Fodder Production", LLP Shabalina and Partners, LLP "Bureau Plis", LEGALMAXCENTRALASIA LLP, GRATA Law Firm, Almaty Chamber of Trade and Investment LLP, Almaty Expertise LLP.
During the seminar the following issues were considered:
- legislative acts of the Republic of Kazakhstan (with amendments and additions) on intellectual property;
- legal protection and conditions for trademark registration. Applying for a trademark. Requirements for drawing up an application;
- legal protection and conditions for registration of the appellation of origin;
- electronic filing of applications for industrial property;
- conditions of patentability of industrial design. Application for the grant of a patent for an industrial design;
- legal basis and registration of copyrights;
- basic forms of transfer of rights to intellectual property objects.
At the seminar, participants asked a lot of questions on the procedure for registration, filing and examination of applications for the grant of a patent for an industrial design, on the order of conducting business records and correspondence with an expert organization, the procedure and term of payment of the Tariffs, transferring rights of complex business activities, etc.
At the end of the seminar the participants thanked the organizers for providing information on intellectual property issues.
