The Chief examiner of International trademarks examination division Mira Shertysheva attended the training of Global Intellectual Property Academy of USPTO (GIPA USPTO) on trademarks examination from 27 February to 10 March 2017.
Within the training Ms. Mira Shertysheva studied the issues on examination of trademarks in USA Patent Office, including the criteria of its distinction ability, issues on deceiving the customers, aspects of protection of well-known trademarks, collective trademarks, non-traditional trademarks, certification marks and geographical indications.
Program concluded theoretical lessons, also practical class works, where the new cases of USPTO were discussed.
Examiners of Patent offices of Brazil, Georgia, Egypt, Israel, Costa Rica, Taiwan and Equator shared the information about their work. In its term, Mira Shertysheva also discussed the specifications of examination in Kazakhstan. The participants could share their experiences.
They could also get familiar with search database and website of USPTO, mechanism of electronic application appliance and the process of preliminary examination.
During the training participants visited the museum and library of USPTO, were introduced to the work of appellation council.
By the results of 2-week training Mira Shertysheva awarded the certificate on successful completion of training.
