National Institute of Intellectual Property
On July 17, 2018 a conference was held in Nazarbayev University with Silvye Forbin - Deputy Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization and Ilya Gribkov - Acting Head of Section for Caucasian, Central Asian and Eastern European Countries Department for Transition and Developed Countries WIPO. Kazakhstan was represented by: the Direction of the national patent office of the Republic of Kazakhstan, department on intellectual property rights of the Ministry of Justice, as well as representatives of the Ministry of Culture and Sports, Labor and Social Protection of Population, Nazarbayev University and other interested organizations.
At the conference officials of the Ministry of Justice acquainted participants with the latest legislative changes in the field of intellectual property and with the activities of the patent office. During the conference, the last initiatives of WIPO were discussed to conclude the Beijing Treaty on Audiovisual Performances and the Marrakesh Treaty to Facilitate Access to Published Works for Persons Who Are Blind, Visually Impaired, or Otherwise Print Disabled.
