National Institute of Intellectual Property
The US delegation consisting of the United States District Judge of the United States District Court for the Central District of California David O. Carter, the federal magistrate judge for the United States District Court for the District of Minnesota Becky R. Thorson, Senior Counsel of the Computer Crime and Intellectual Property Section of the US Department of Justice Matthew A. Lamberti, as well as the acting Senior Counsel of the USPTO Office of Policy and International Affairs Jenny Blank visited NIIP on May 22, 2019.
Meeting was opened by Yerbol Ospanov, NIIP Director, and Yermek Kuantyrov, Deputy Director of the Department of Intellectual Property Rights of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Kazakhstan, who welcomed the guests and presented the NIIP First Deputy Director Kaliya Batayeva, NIIP Deputy Director Nurdaulet Abulkairov, NIIP Deputy Director Makpal Shugaipova.
Advisor to the director of NIIP Aliya Khabidenova made a presentation on the main activities of the Institute, acquainted American colleagues with current changes in the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the field of IP, and reflected the statistical indicators on national and international IP registration.
NIIP Director Yerbol Ospanov noted the Institute’s commitment and readiness to further develop international cooperation within the 2016 Memorandum of Understanding and Bilateral Cooperation between two Offices and the official visit of the Patent Office of Kazakhstan to the USPTO in May 2018.
