A meeting with international experts on geographical indications will be held on September 27, 2021

24 September, 2021

The purpose of the meeting is to discuss topical issues within the framework of the regional project "Regional integration and capacity-building to improve the competitiveness of Micro, Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises in the agribusiness and trade promotion in Central Asia - CANDY V".

The project's activities are aimed at improving the competitiveness of export-oriented enterprises in the Central Asian agricultural sector through the introduction of world-renowned tools to promote local products and territories abroad, namely, geographical indications. Geographical instructions contribute to the development of the tourist destination through gastronomic tourism, agrotourism, ecotourism, as well as increase the economic potential of the territories.

In the period from May 2020 to May 2021, the project partners and related stakeholders selected products that could be registered as PS and prepared a feasibility study. 1 product has been selected from Kazakhstan to participate in the pilot project, namely Almaty Airport. Promotion of the product as a geographical indication will increase the recognition of the region and contribute to the development of tourism.
