On May 28, 2025, a seminar on "Effective patent search and research" was held in Almaty, organized by the Training Center of the Qazpatent Branch. The event brought together experts in the field of intellectual property, engineers, researchers, as well as representatives of small and medium-sized businesses.
Zaure Orynbekova, Director of the Qazpatent branch, delivered a welcoming speech. In her speech, she stressed that the patent system is an integral element of the modern economy, ensuring the protection of technological solutions and stimulating innovative development. She paid special attention to the role of patent research as a key tool for assessing novelty, which makes it possible to identify advanced technical solutions and increase the competitiveness of domestic developments.
The event discussed key aspects of the legal protection of patent law objects and the structure of patent documentation. The participants were shown modern methods and tools of patent search using both national and international databases. The participants were particularly interested in the presentation of the invited lecturer. The representative of the RSE “Combustion Problems Institute” spoke about the types of patent research including prior art research, patent analytics and patent landscape analytics. The participants learned how to interpret search results and what to look for when preparing an application.
The practical part of the seminar allowed the participants not only to gain theoretical knowledge, but also to consolidate it in practice by studying examples of patent search in real cases. Many participants noted the value of skills in working with classifications and filters when searching for technical solutions. The event ended with a question and answer session, during which experts provided detailed explanations and shared recommendations on the organization of patent research. Following the results of the seminar, the participants were awarded certificates.
