Results of the first day of the webinar on the legal protection of IP objects

Today, the first day of the webinar on the legal protection of intellectual property objects was held, organized by Kazpatent for the Republican Board of Legal Consultants (hereinafter-the Board).

The work of the webinar was opened with a welcoming speech by: Chairman of the Board Serik Akylbay, Director of the Department for Intellectual Property Rights of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Kazakhstan Meirzhan Tulepov, Director of Kazpatent Yerbol Ospanov.

Serik Akylbay thanked Kazpatent for organizing a course of lectures and stressed the importance of holding such an event for the professional community of practicing lawyers.

In his speech, Meirzhan Tulepov introduced the audience to the possibility of passing the certification of a patent attorney of the Republic of Kazakhstan, noting that the state services "Certification of candidates for patent attorneys" and "Issuance of a certificate of a patent attorney" are provided by the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The next certification is scheduled for December this year.

Yerbol Ospanov highlighted the main activities of Kazpatent, including cooperation with the World Intellectual Property Organization (hereinafter-WIPO), as well as the training opportunities provided by the WIPO Academy for everyone.

As a result of the first day of the webinar, during the active interaction of Kazpatent employees with the audience, the topics of legal protection of inventions, trademarks and AOI, as well as international procedures for patenting and registering these objects were considered. Questions on the existing practice of legal regulation of counterfeit goods were also raised.

The online meeting was attended by more than 200 members of the Chambers of the Board.
