On October 19, 2023, Qazpatent held a meeting with representatives of the foreign company "Agrokontakt-Georgievi" EOOD, Bulgaria, engaged in the breeding and sale of seeds of agricultural crops.
The purpose of the visit was to familiarize myself with the activities of Qazpatent and to discuss general issues on patenting plant varieties and zoning in the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Deputy Director of Qazpatent Aidyn Artykova familiarized the guests with the activities of the Institute, spoke about the functions within the competence of the Institute as a patent office, and about the compliance of legal acts of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the field of patenting of breeding achievements with international standards.
Also, Qazpatent representatives voiced the procedures of patenting breeding achievements, the requirements of the preliminary examination conducted by the expert organization - RSE "NIIS" of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and the examination for patentability conducted by the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
In turn, the guests from Bulgaria expressed their gratitude for the detailed explanation of the procedure for patenting plant varieties and expressed their intention to submit applications for breeding achievements.
